Tarpon Springs - 10/16-18

Sunday - October 16

Nothing beats a visit home to see mom!  Plus, it was a great day for a drive ... crossing a new route thru central Florida that was beautiful with the many, many horse farms.

Our first stop was Wesley Chapel, FL, where Dan's brother/wife, Tom, and Marie live ... along with their 3 horses and numerous ducks and chickens!  This is such a different slice of Florida -- being in the country instead of the city or the beach.  They have land on all sides ... and yes, in the picture below, the horses are indeed in their front yard (how cool is that!).

Tom and Marie have an ideal Florida home ... complete with pool, huge screened patio, rosemary bushes as shrubs, and an open outdoor living space which I love (you don't see that in MN!).
yummmm ... salmon with fresh rosemary.
no bugs outside since it's completely screened in.
my favorite spot. complete with tiki bar!

After dinner, we got to watch Tom and Marie run the horses into the barn (and I do mean RUN!  Too bad I cannot run the video we took on this site. Amazing), and then it was time to head back to Jeann's condo in Tarpon Springs and watch the Vikings on Sunday night football.  We so seldom get to see a Vikings game broadcast that it's a real treat ... but continuing to watch their downward spiral is not.

We stayed with her for a couple of days; running errands, looking through old pictures and paperwork (when documents were typed on a real typewriter!), retelling old stories, and getting current on her current health issues and living arrangements.

We left on Tuesday, October 18.  Time to get back to the boat so the bottom paint can proceed, and time to do some fun shopping at the West Marine in Tarpon Springs b/c it's my birthday and I don't have to look at the final total!
