Following Sean and Amelia's wedding, the fun continued the next day, starting with brunch in St Paul with Craig and Michelle and Craig's mom, Pat Nelson. Craig recently returned from his 4th deployment, this was Pat's first visit with him since he got back to the states. Everyone was teary-eyed!
After brunch, we drove over to the Mississippi River to board one of the riverboats for an afternoon cruise and Mark Twain interpretive show. Our long-time friend, Paula Wheeler (she's the first person I met in the dorm when I came out to MN from CA some 35+ years ago!), treated us to this afternoon on the riverboat.

Nothing feels more like Minnesota than ambling down the Mississippi River on a beautiful summer day! The weather was perfect, and they have a really nice bar on these riverboats ...
Monday, September 12.
Back in the car and we are on the move again! Up early for the drive to Rochester in time for a doctor appt. at Mayo Clinic. We'll stay here with my sister, Laury and Bob, for the week while we take care of medical and dental stuff. We got spoiled with medical care at Mayo for so many years, so we are taking advantage of it now! Both of Laury and Bob's kids are away at college, so they've got plenty of room at their house -- along with 5 or 6 movie channels "On Demand" which meant that more than once we stayed up all night watching movies on their big-screen TV! We've also got friends from work that we want to touch base with ... and some shopping to finish since we're starting to realize that our return to Florida is not too far off.

September 16
Happy Anniversary to us! Today marks our 33rd wedding anniversary.
To celebrate, we drove from Rochester up to Chisago City MN, where we got married. As we have revisited many places we used to live -- only to find most traces of that residence mowed over-- it was a nice surprise to find that the Camp Fire Girl camp where we got married (whole place for $25) was not only still around, but fortunate enough to now be a city park, with evidence of lots of renovation to keep the facilities looking really nice.

After dinner at the restaurant where we held the Groom/s Dinner 33 years ago, we ended the night back in Webster WI, where Jim Garfunkel keeps a spare room with our waterbed! Best night sleep!
September 23
We drag our feet leaving Webster for Minneapolis. After coming and going from here throughout the summer, we're now have to face the fact that we are packing up for the last time. Hugs and kisses.

Hugs and kisses to Laury and Bob who we left in Rochester for the last time today. I'll miss the nights of sitting out by your pool and laughing until my stomach hurt. And Bob's BBQ ribs!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT EWING!
Today was all about getting to Robert's 60th birthday ... our first close buddy to reach this milestone.
After an evening playing bocce and eating cake and drinking really good champagne, we had to once again realize that we were now saying goodbye to people that we wouldn't be seeing for another year, at least. It's been so nice being in such close proximity to such good friends. Especially when we are staying with Dan and Renee Devereaux in Minneapolis. From their home base, we've been able to visit our son, James, several times, and hang out with Lindsey and her parents. I was able to connect with Kate Tarvestad on the spur of the moment b/c I could easily meet her after work. We were able to go to brunch with Dan's sisters. In short, all the normal things that we miss when we are away.
In fact, the only stopover we missed was going to see Kevin and Tracy Whiteley at their beautiful home in Hudson, WI. Next time ....
