Day 6 in Georgetown and the usual itch to get moving starts acting up again! This is a rather bittersweet point in the trip for us because we'll now be heading north ... the journey southbound has run its course and we are now homeward bound. Several friends we've been traveling with have decided to either leave their boat in Georgetown or stay in the Bahamas all summer or continue south towards the Dominican Republic, so it's hard being the only kid in the crowd turning the other direction. But alas, we are just homesick enough to want to see familar faces in MN for a change!
Today will be a short travel day because we are only going 10miles up the coast to the Marina at Emerald Bay. Our friends, Greg and Janice (s/v Glenice) called us yesterday to say that this is the BEST marina they have EVER visited ... and that is saying a lot! Plus the rates are only $1.00/ft ($40 for us) so who can resist a deal like that!

This was one of our best sailing days yet ... no motor, all 4 sails, 3 ft seas, 15 knots of wind pushing us along at 5.5 knots! Ahhh... this is what we signed on for! In fact, it was hard to get around to dropping the sails and entering Emerald Bay, but the forecast is for 5 good days ahead of us, and the lure of a long, hot shower has its special appeal!

We had a Cinco de Mayo happy hour party in the bar ... that lasted until midnight.
Ok, this place is definitely the nicest we've ever experienced, so favorable sailing conditions be damned, we decided to stay another day! They are offering a special rate of .50/foot from June thru December ... what a hell of a temptation!
We spent Friday exploring the area ...they provide a golf cart! Great grocery store and liquor store, and of course, another really fine beach ... with covered lounge chairs!
